About Us

Here in Sunderland we aim to create a welcoming environment for Asylum Seekers and Refugees. By supporting local groups who help them to integrate with local community and to educate the local community in order to create a culture of hospitality.

At the moment we have ‘Schools of Sanctuary’ program working with local primary schools with an aim for them to apply for Schools of Sanctuary award. These programmes and our future plans could not happen with the support from the local community and services that support Asylum Seekers and Refugees.

Refugee Week 2014:“Sunderland allowed me to be free and happy.”
